Art / Science Collaborations: a talk by artist Lynne Chapman

10 years ago, I discovered a job I didn’t know existed: working as Artist in Residence with social scientists. It took me to Australia, to paint sheep-shearers and hand surgery, to sketch in massive mineral mines, in airports, call centres and dance studios. Later residencies had me making textile sculptures about social media & mental health, plastic surgery techniques and plastic recycling. It’s all been great fun – I’ve learned loads and seen loads and I’d love to tell you all about it. And I’ll be bringing examples of some of my reportage and textile artwork for you to look at.
