Ghosts in the Landscape – Guided interactive tour with live dramatic monologues
History isn’t just written in books – it lives in the stories of those who walked before us. Join us at the historic Sheffield General Cemetery on Sunday 13th September for an immersive, interactive dramatised tour where the veil between life and death blurs, and the past comes vividly to life. Guided by Anne Worth (the wife of the architect who designed the cemetery), you will journey through the winding pathways of the cemetery and encounter the remarkable spirits who shaped Sheffield’s history. From industrial titans and rebels to forgotten voices, our talented volunteer actors will step into the shoes of the cemetery’s residents, delivering powerful monologues that reveal their triumphs, tragedies, and secrets.
Meet the Residents
Hear from the legendary Industrial giants of Mark Firth and George Bassett that shaped our city. Listen to the formidable writer Alice Hall and hear the story of the rebel Mary Holberry. Experience the raw reality faced by a Workhouse resident. Meet the captivating performer Maria Gomersal and uncover the tragic stories of John Gunson and Katherine Parker.
This is more than a history lesson. It is an interactive experience where you can ask questions, engage with the past, and discover the humans behind the headstones.
Tickets: £15.00 + Booking fee. Every ticket comes with a complimentary cup of coffee, tea, hot chocolate or soft drink – your choice!
