The first of 2 nights with LOVELL, Rhiannon Scutt & Wolf Peaches. A trio of fabulous female songwriters.
LOVELL (rhymes with shovel) is the musical project of singer-songwriter and guitarist Hannah Lovell.
Velvety and surreal punk-folk, with good enunciation.
“Almost every musical artist the world over would likely claim to be bringing something unique and fresh to the saturated sphere of contemporary music. When you’re testing out the floor toms in the studio drum cupboard to hear which sounds most medieval, you can probably begin to stake a claim to originality. When your lyrical themes left turn from synthetic fibres, to witches from the Middle Ages, to subatomic particles, you may have a point.
Rhiannon Scutt
Decidedly anti-genre in her approach, her music flows between folk, rock, pop and electronica and touches on much more beside. She combines the angst of PJ Harvey with the introspective melancholia of Adrienne Lenker, all the while a monster talent on the guitar.
Wolf Peaches is a queer pop/folk artist based in Sheffield creating politically-fuelled, reflective songs.
